Since the late 1700's Monteagle Mountain has been a gateway to the communities of the southern Cumberland Plateau. Monteagle Mountain is the highest point, at 2100 ft. above sea level, between Chicago and Miami. It is the combination of old mountain folk -the descendants of the Swiss colonist and the Scotch-Irish settlers- and newcomers who want to see our distinctive culture flourish that has made the Monteagle Mountain a reality.

Sewanee, Monteagle's neighbor, is home to The University of the South.

Located about halfway between Nashville and Chattanooga, Tennessee, directly off Interstate 24, you can find yourself in an area where the hustle of city life is left far behind, yet you are only a short distance away from shops, theatre, music and other urban delights.

Monteagle boasts its five-star restaurants. This plateau has some of the finest cuisine found in this country. It's all owned and prepared by local folks, from down home to gourmet cooking. These cooks have traveled and been trained throughout the world. Monteagle offers an excellent selection of fine wines to use with any meal of your choice.

The first weekend in August is the date for the Annual Monteagle Mountain Market for the Arts and Crafts now in its 43rd year. The second Monday in March is Monteagle's

Annual Taste of the Mountain with the great cooks of the area offering samples of their finest foods. Parades: 1st. Saturday in December our Christmas Parade 4pm and then visit in the park with Mr. & Mrs. Santa. 4th of July Freedom Parade 10 am.
