Since the late 1700's Monteagle
Mountain has been a gateway to the communities of the southern
Cumberland Plateau. Monteagle Mountain is the highest point,
at 2100 ft. above sea level, between Chicago and Miami. It
is the combination of old mountain folk -the descendants of
the Swiss colonist and the Scotch-Irish settlers- and newcomers
who want to see our distinctive culture flourish that has
made the Monteagle Mountain a reality.
Sewanee, Monteagle's neighbor, is home
to The University of the South.
